Exhibitions: 29 Mitoraj works in Sicily, Patané (production director): "One of the most important."

One of the most important exhibitions on Polish artist Igor Mitoraj, "Lo sguardo – Humanitas Physis," will close on October 31st. The 29 monumental works by the master Mitoraj will be displayed at the Neapolis Archaeological Park, Castello Maniace in Ortigia, and in Ragalna, on Mount Etna. Paolo Patanè, director of the exhibition's executive production, is certain of this, as he stated on the sidelines of last Saturday's closing ceremony. The artistic performances, conceived by Gisella Calì, a musical theatre teacher renowned for her immersive theatre shows, dedicated to the four elements around which the exhibition is based, enchanted those in attendance, all collectors and enthusiasts of Mitoraj's work. "It is certainly the most comprehensive exhibition. Three very different sites: Ortigia, Neapolis, and Mount Etna. Archaeological sites and naturalistic sites," he said.

"A powerful story," he added, "not only for the monumentality of the works, but for the attempt—I believe successful—to narrate not the fragility of man but his self-determination, his courage, his ability to seek his freedom, to conquer it, with a transition from looking to seeing that signifies awareness, self-determination, and therefore also choice. An extraordinary site, which measures Mitoraj's identity. Mitoraj has an almost unrepeatable ability to interpret places, in such a way that he almost seems to arise from the very places where he is exhibited. On the other hand, it is also true that this is an exhibition that explains how and to what extent archaeological sites can speak to the contemporary world. The challenge is to do it elsewhere too," Patanè concluded, "to do it with Mitoraj, to do it with others, provided they are capable of conveying the greatness of art, a cultural depth, and a vision of the world that this contemporary world needs."
